Fresh Fish!

Hey you-eich designers,

"Being a good designer extends beyond making. It embodies thinking critically about what you make and why." - Anne Bush (yes Anne Bush)

Welcome back to school! I hope you're excited and ready for another thrilling ride. It looks like the program is getting back in gear and hopefully you all do well.

As from what I know, many of your alumni are still doing design in its various forms, which means you still have many resources to tap if you need/choose. I'm sure if there's a lunch in it for them they'd be happy to help you!

Good Luck!

P.S. Whoever is in charge of the AIGA UH Student Group, I have the contact list. email me. I'll need proof of studency and involvement with the student group. then its all yours.

Congratulatories on the show

I just wanted to say congratulations on the show I know everyone put in a lot of work! Special thanks to the juniors that helped out. Oh ya, cant forget da HAMMA!

I think it was a great experience with talking to people about our work.

For those of you that got some offers, good luck with the interviews and hit up the blog with how it went. I'd like to get an insight on how interviews go.

I know they say "be prepared to do a little designing." because they may bust out a little 10 min design. Have your Rogets and Webster ready!

rightie right! havs a good summer!

OMGZZZZZ

Holla,

This is a reminder that the exhibit committee will be needing a couple of things from you for Wednesday:

1. 2 songs for the portfolio show playlist. Try to keep in mind that we'll be talking to professionals this evening so try not to choose something too obtrusive to the atmosphere. =)

2. 2 images of your works to be used for the slideshow that will be playing on the large screen. Images just need to be large enough to be viewed on a screen so no need for 300dpi print quality sizes.

SUBMIT THESE FILES ONTO THE SERVER > XFER > AIGA > PORTFOLIO SHOW 2007 > EXHIBIT COMMITTEE.

Mahalo,
Mark

Check it out!

"There are times, when you need someone. I will be by your side."

A great opportunity to make a little cash for something that dosen't take tremendous amount of time. Do a GIANT CHECK for "Dr. P", One-Hundred Dollars!

As a student group we are able to take on various projects to raise a little money and gain some client-designer relationship practice. You should take the opportunity to take on the "little things" even if you are really busy and dont have enought time to shower everyday. (Ok, I'm exadurating a little) But, it is good experience, and believe me, we can never get enough practice and experience.

"La, La, La, La, La. This is my story."
The lab was cool. Not as chilly as normal occupied by a few bodies, but still enough for you to feel the hairs on your neck tingle from the frosty air. We talked and and waited for Dr. P to recieve his check.
"Where is he coming from?" I said.
"I dunno." Terri said.
The urge to go home was pulling one foot out the door, but I had a mission. I had to capture an image of the exchange.
The door opens. I clinch my camera ready to fire.
"Dr. P?" I say anticipating his arrival.
A boy about 5 or 6 burst throught the door to do circles around the track of computers. Following the boy was a tall dark man with a big smile on his face.
"Picture time." I said.
Terri and Dr. P unrolled the check from its security tube as I watch the boy do rounds from computer to computer pressing on each keyboard. He soon whirlwinds back to the door and catches a glimpse of the alarm key pad.
Beep. Beep. Beep beep beep.
"Stop. Hey, you stay here now. Go, yeah." said Dr. P "Just stay over here. Yah."
"ok." I said. "One, two, three!"

Instructions for Portfolio Show Poster (NO BOOK)

The following is VERY IMPORTANT for you to read, as there are deadlines this weekend:

- It can include photography, graphics, or typography.
- Everything should be in CMYK when submitted (4-color max w/UV spot option)
- All fonts should either be outlined or embedded in your file
- 5" x 5" composition must have a 1/8" (.125") bleed around all edges

2. Instructions for file submittal:
- Files will be submitted to Kyle, UnMi, Giselle, and Paul by email so they can start putting things together
- Submit a file that can be placed into an indesign file (i.e. .eps, .tiff, .indd, .psd)
- Along with your composition, include in the email body the following things:
a. How you would like your name to appear on the back of the poster (ex: Courtney Young)
b. Your hometown/origin (ex: Kahalu'u, Hawaii)
